How to install / use
Posts go in roughly 600mm below ground on 1.8m centres for 6ft fence. Concrete-set with postcrete or wet mix; some installers use post-spikes for repairs or temporary fence. 4×4 posts are the safe default for windier spots and gate posts.
What North Tyneside looks like for fencing
North Tyneside catches some coastal wind on its eastern edge (Backworth and Murton are exposed), so we'd lean to 4×4 posts on anything above a sheltered garden. Most of the original Killingworth fencing was 3×3 posts — we replace with 4×3 as standard to give a longer life.
