How our quotes work
Every quote we issue is given in good faith based on the information you supply (postcode, fence type, height, run length, photos/videos, access notes) and — for jobs over 10m — a free site survey. We aim to come back within 1 working day for most enquiries.
What's included in the quote
- All materials specified (boards, posts, rails, gravel boards, fixings)
- Labour to install (where install is quoted)
- Reasonable removal and tip-disposal of replaced fence (where mentioned in the quote)
- VAT — quoted prices include VAT at the prevailing rate unless explicitly stated otherwise
What's NOT included unless specifically mentioned
- Concrete spurs for rotted posts (priced separately if needed on inspection)
- Tree, hedge or vegetation clearance
- Skipping of unusual ground material (concrete slabs, rubble, large rock)
- Reinstatement of paving, lawn or driveway disturbed by the works
- Planning permission or party-wall agreements (your responsibility)
- Liaison with neighbours
Validity
Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date issued. Timber pricing moves with the market; after 30 days we may need to reissue with updated pricing.
Deposit
Install jobs typically require a 20% non-refundable deposit to secure the build slot. The deposit is set against the final invoice. If you cancel before work starts, the deposit is retained to cover scheduling. If we cannot complete the work for reasons within our control, the deposit is refunded in full.
Variations
If the scope changes after work starts (additional run, different fence height, extra gate, etc.) we'll agree a written variation with you before continuing. Variations are billed alongside the final invoice.
Unforeseen ground conditions
If we hit something unexpected once digging starts — buried concrete, services not marked, water, large rocks — we'll stop work, show you, and agree how to proceed (additional cost or scope reduction). We don't continue and bill silently.
Cancellation
- Before the deposit is paid: no charge.
- After deposit, before materials ordered: deposit retained.
- After materials are ordered: deposit plus full cost of any materials specifically ordered for your job that we can't return.
- Once work has started: work to date plus reasonable wind-down costs.
Acceptance
You accept the quote by paying the deposit (for install jobs) or by placing an order through the website (for supply-only). Once accepted, these terms and our standard Terms of Service apply to the job.
