Ponteland fence rail supply — pressure-treated, sized for closeboard

Fence rail is what most Ponteland fencers reach for first. Fence rails (often called arris rails) are the horizontal timbers between posts that the closeboard fence boards nail onto. Standard sections are 3"×1.5" for lighter work and 4"×2" for taller / windier fences. We deliver across Ponteland and Darras Hall and the wider Northumberland footprint — Next-day.

Whether you're laying a single back-garden run on a Darras Hall or Milbourne property or quoting a multi-house developer plot, the timber's the same: pressure-treated softwood, sized properly, dropped where you need it.

Common uses

Closeboard fence between posts, post-and-rail boundary, paddock fencing, repairs after a storm.

How to install / use

Most 6ft closeboard fence uses two rails per bay; taller (7ft+) uses three. Rails sit in rebated post slots, or sit on the face of the post with rail brackets. We stock both 12ft and 14ft lengths so bays can be built without scarf joints.

What Ponteland looks like for fencing

Darras Hall plots are some of the biggest residential plots in the North East — 30m+ boundary runs are common, and the spec expectation is high. Painted finishes need cure time so lead times stretch a bit. Outlying villages are flatter and more standard.

Neighbourhoods we drop to: Darras Hall, Milbourne, Medburn, Berwick Hill, Black Heddon, Stamfordham, Belsay, Eachwick, Higham Dykes. Plus surrounding postcodes (NE20) — drop your postcode at checkout if you're unsure.
