Washington fence rail supply — pressure-treated, sized for closeboard
Fence rail is what most Washington fencers reach for first. Fence rails (often called arris rails) are the horizontal timbers between posts that the closeboard fence boards nail onto. Standard sections are 3"×1.5" for lighter work and 4"×2" for taller / windier fences. We deliver across Washington and the wider Tyne and Wear footprint — Next-day.
Whether you're laying a single back-garden run on a Sulgrave or Donwell property or quoting a multi-house developer plot, the timber's the same: pressure-treated softwood, sized properly, dropped where you need it.

Common uses
Closeboard fence between posts, post-and-rail boundary, paddock fencing, repairs after a storm.
How to install / use
Most 6ft closeboard fence uses two rails per bay; taller (7ft+) uses three. Rails sit in rebated post slots, or sit on the face of the post with rail brackets. We stock both 12ft and 14ft lengths so bays can be built without scarf joints.
What Washington looks like for fencing
The original Washington estate fencing was light spec — 3×3 posts at 1.8m centres with thin rails. Most of what we replace now we upgrade to 4×3 concrete-set with proper 3.6m rails, which gives a much longer life. Heavy clay soil in pockets around Ayton and Usworth — rapid-set postcrete is a must, not a nice-to-have.
Neighbourhoods we drop to: Sulgrave, Donwell, Concord, Albany, Glebe, Columbia, Ayton, Springwell, Usworth, Lambton, Oxclose. Plus surrounding postcodes (NE37–NE38) — drop your postcode at checkout if you're unsure.
